Funky Feet Academy
teaches Dance & Singing classes to both Girls & Boys.
At Funky Feet Academy we strongly
believe that all students should be given praise and encouragement to
help them gain self confidence and feel part of our Academy.
We hold an annual Show in which
all students have a chance to perform on the stage, this allows parents
and relatives the opportunity to see how their children are progressing. We also
take part in other community projects.
All Teachers hold enhanced CRB disclosures. s. |
Kirstie Smith- Dance Teacher

I have
been dancing all my life. I started at the tender age of 3 years old
and haven't looked back. I started working professionally at the age of
8 with my first dancing
job at Wimbledon Theatre in there Christmas pantomime with Rod Hull and
Emu.
I then appeared in Dick Whittington at the London Palladium with Lionel
Blair and Jim Davidson,
from there I appeared in the first children's Royal Variety Performance
again performed
at the London Palladium. My next pantomime was Mother Goose at Victoria
Palace with John Inman.
I then went into films and had parts in :- The Wild Cats of St
Trinians which was great fun
being a naughty school child!! SOS Titanic where I got thrown into a
life boat from the ship
but got thrown just a little too far and ended up in the sea. The
Missionary as a street urchin.
Dragon Slayer where once again I was a Street Urchin with blacked out
teeth ( I looked lovely)
I
have been in various TV adverts (all of them for food). I then stopped
working to concentrate
on school exams and when I was 16 I trained at Italia Conti Academy Of
Performing Arts for 3 years.
Whilst at Italia Conti I was the face of the Heroin Drug advert and had
my face plastered on billboards around the country. I left Italia Conti
and landed a job touring Portugal's casinos and clubs for 9 months as a
showgirl.
I returned home and worked as a dancer in various nightclubs in and
around London.

Then
decided it was time to keep my feet on solid ground so opened my first
Dance School K-Jays School of Dance, I have also been teaching at Yvonne
Dearman Academy of Performing Arts for 15 years and hold valid enhanced CRB disclosures.
